Hello Friend! thank you for contacting Skull Valley Lavender Farm via the WWOOF Program!
And thank you for considering joining our little experiment in heartful and grounded living.
Please take a moment to read the information below thoroughly and then sign the form at the end. We will then contact you about availability options.
Tobacco:
Because of a very potent plant virus found in tobacco products we don't allow any tobacco of any kind onto the property.
We know this seems a bit odd but a number of small lavender farms have lost their entire farms because one person didn't take this seriously and carried the virus onto their farms.
The tobacco mosaic virus is particularly deadly to lavender plants. Thank you for taking this seriously.

What to expect...
- Quiet time and Alone Time:
Skull Valley Lavender Farm really fluctuates often and can at times be full of people and at other times be very quiet. Please be prepared to be self-entertained while here. Skull Valley Lavender Farm is a wonderful place to read, journal, paint, walk, do yoga and meditate. Often full time residents have to go into town for errands or to spend the night in town so you may be out here alone at times. Because of our personal work loads we are not always available for company but we do look forward to times when we are able to just have a cup of tea and chat or get to know one another while working together. This is a wonderful place for people who enjoy both solitude and community. It can be a hard place for people who are not comfortable in silence and solitude.
- WWOOFrs are asked to join in the work for 25 hours a week. Most WWOOFRs end up doing 5 hrs a day, 5 days a week but we are happy to adjust this if need be. We will usually show you around and give you some different work options so you can either choose which one feels the most enjoyable or switch around as you like.
- We usually share taking turns preparing the mid-day meal for everyone who is out here. Besides that communal meal WWOOFrs and residents usually prepare their own breakfast and dinner. Everyone chips in with basic cleaning, dishes and sweeping. We will stock the house with food please help yourself to any of the food in the house for these and all meals. We are predominately a vegetarian household with ample vegan options.
- Because of our busy lives we are unable to provide any kind of transportation. You will need your own car while you are here. Unfortunately, do to safety concerns of people being out here without a means to get into town we can not allow for exceptions to this rule.
- Please don’t hesitate to talk to us about ANYTHING! We want your visit here to be nourishing, safe, and soulful so please let us know if you have any concerns, if your plans change, if you have any health issues, if you need a day off to rest, etc. etc. We love working hard and we also believe in deep rest, outdoor baths, good food, meaningful conversations, nourishing quiet and laughter.
Accommodations:
Camping - We also have ample space to camp or to park a van or a tear drop type trailer.
- Dogs: A number of our plants are culinary lavender and because the fields are not fenced off and because dogs love to pee and go to the bathroom on lavender bushes we ask sadly that you leave them at home. They have in the past also caused damage to things like thin drip tape and neighbors chickens. So sadly for us we are presently a dog-free farm. Sorry for the inconvenience.
- Computers: We ask that all computers and cell phone use be shut down at 8pm for the night. And we ask that you refrain from movies and entertainment videos while on the property. Educational and instructional videos are the exception for long term residents. Our goal is to make this a sacred place and while we love movies and videos the idea of having this land be a place where we refrain from that has had a surprisingly beneficial effect on our minds and hearts and so we ask you to please help us to keep this kind of sacredness here. (Occasionally we do have movie night at the farm.)
- Meditation: We sit in meditation 2-3 times a day. You are welcome to join us for our daily meditations as you like. We are available to offer meditation instruction upon request.
- Silence:
After the evening sit we practice basic silence together until the morning sit. Please join us in this and enjoy the rare spaciousness of a little silent time together. (But please don't hesitate to break this silence if you need anything or have any concerns of any kind!) Also we ask that after the evening sit until the morning to please refrain from use of the kitchen or making noise so that who ever is in charge of morning work can get a full nights rest.
- Alcohol and Drugs:
We ask all visitors and residents to please refrain from all alcohol and drug use while on the property and to please not come onto the property if under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
- Enjoying the Space:
We have a woodshop, (soon a library) a little writing hut, and the meditation and yoga temple. Please feel free to use these spaces. Outside of formal meditation times the temple is open for you to use for meditation, yoga, dancing, resting or reading. Please enjoy yourself and use this beautiful land and space to refresh and rejuvenate your heart and mind.
Safety:
Currently Skull Valley Lavender Farm is under construction to freshen up our buildings. This means there are loose nails, boards and all kinds of dangerous hazards lying around. Please be forewarned and come here at your own risk and be careful as you work or visit here as sharp objects, uneven ground, loose wood, and general dangerous conditions are all around.
Please also note that bees, stinging insects, poisonous snakes, and large cats are all found here.
We have a first aid kit above the washing machine where we also have an Epi Pen if anyone should have an allergic reaction to a sting.
For fires or emergencies dial 911
Hospital:
The closest hospital is Yavapai Regional Medical Center. Take a right out the drive way and take that all the way (3.5 miles) until it dead-ends onto the main paved road (Iron Spring Rd). Take a left and in about 15 miles you will see the hospital on the left at a major 4-way intersection.
